The Bloomberg Innovation Index, an important annual ranking of how innovative countries are, named the Netherlands as one of the top 10 innovative countries in the world on their 2021 list.

“The 2021 rankings reflect a world where the fight against Covid-19 has brought innovation to the fore – from government efforts to contain the pandemic, to the digital infrastructure that’s allowed economies to work through it, and the race to develop vaccines that can end it.” the organizers stated on their official page.

According to Iamsterdam, “The Amsterdam Area plays a huge part in the Netherlands’ reputation as a leader in innovation, thanks to its dense ecosystem of universities and research institutions, thriving tech and startup scene, and close collaboration of public and private organisations.”

Iamsterdam mentions Happitech and its partners OLVG and Luscii as the first examples of great innovations from the life sciences and health sector that made Netherlands climb up four places compared to last year and outrank the US and UK in the The Bloomberg Innovation Index.
